DescriptionWhy is this stay fit for a remote worker

With beds, dishes, and space for 20+ guests, Big Dreams Farms is the perfect place for your family reunion, group retreat, or multi-family get away. Explore the property, enjoy a movie night in the rec room, sit in the pond room and watch the fish, visit the beautiful Yuba river or the quaint Downtown districts of Grass Valley or Nevada City (20 min) to shop or enjoy a local restaurant. The Farm offers a lovely home base for your trip, whether it's an activity-filled getaway or a quiet retreat.

The space
With its private bedrooms, shared dorm, workspace and strong wifi, big rec room, and second kitchenette, the Farm offers the space and flexibility for all kinds of trips. More detail about each space:

The Main Floor includes the enclosed porch Pond Room with multiple cozy places to sit and visit, read, or watch the fish. The two green sofa beds also offer additional sleeping accommodations (NOTE: the Pond Room is an enclosed porch, with protection from wind and rain, but it is not insulated or heated.). Inside, the kitchen is well-equipped with just about anything you’ll need to cook for and serve a crowd, including full dish and silver settings for 16+ people. The dining and living rooms enjoy a view out over the hills, all the way to the Yuba River. Go out to the large deck for an expanded view while grilling dinner.

Bedroom #1 has a sliding door to the deck so you can see the Milky Way from bed, but is also fitted with blackout curtains.

Bedroom #2 has a window that opens to the Pond Room, so you can drift off to sleep with the soft sound of the fountain (and possibly frogs!).

Downstairs, you’ll find Bedroom #3 which also has access to the outside via a sliding glass door covered by blackout drapes. A workstation is also provided in this room, with monitor, keyboard and mouse provided.

The Rec Room can be accessed from upstairs through Bedroom #3, or from the outside if you wish to keep the bedroom strictly private. This huge room has comfortable seating for a large group to watch a movie on the 55” TV with sound system, or play some games. The daybed and available air mattresses provide additional sleeping accommodations. If your group will be doing any circle work, ask about using our backjacks.

The Rec Room also has a second full bathroom with tub and a kitchenette with sink, fridge, DeLonghi Nespresso machine, toaster, and microwave, as well as a dining table with seating for 6. (Kids’ table, anyone?!)

Bedroom #4 is the charming Tiki Shack, about 100 feet from the house. This free-standing room is beautifully decorated in an island theme and has a very comfortable king size bed. It has a heater and air conditioner, but no bathroom at this point. Guests who sleep in the Shack will need to go back to the main house for a bathroom. (Tree watering is welcome!)

Upstairs, the large, open Dorm (Bedroom #6) has 5 single beds, each with its own nightstand and light as well as available shoji screens for a bit of privacy between the twin beds. The Dorm also has a massive bean bag to relax and watch a movie on the projector. On the east end of the Dorm is an enclosed porch with 2 more daybeds and a trundle, which can serve as another living room area, or provide 3 more single beds (NOTE: the Dorm Porch is an enclosed deck, with protection from wind and rain, but it is not insulated or heated.). On the west end is the small, semi-private Bedroom #5 with a couch that folds down to a full size bed. Access to Bedroom #5 is through the Dorm.

The upstairs also has a half bathroom with a sink and toilet.

Some additional things to know about the property:

General Safety: The Farm is a rustic, natural environment! The roads and pathways around the property are not paved, and there are literally rocks everywhere. Walking carefully and wearing sturdy shoes can help avoid trips and falls. There are many 'walls' of rocks - please do not climb on these! They are not reinforced and rocks can come loose causing injury or damage. If you explore the property, you may find poison oak or even a rattlesnake. Both are safe as long as you keep your distance, but you must pay attention to where you walk! Black widow spiders are around, but very shy and stay hidden in dark, undisturbed places. Please take good care of yourself and your group, and remain safe while you visit Farm.

Noise: While the Farm provides great privacy, we do have neighbors! Please remain aware of the noise level and be conscientious, especially after 10pm.

WATER: The current drought has impacted our well, and our water supply is limited. We do have large storage tanks, and with conscientious water usage there is plenty to drink, cook, and bathe with. That said, it is important that guests understand that our water supply is limited and finite. Some ways to help support our well (and ensure that you do not run out of water!) are:
* Limiting the number and length of showers
* Turning off the water while washing hands, dishes, teeth, etc.
* Using septic system rules for the toilet – “If it's yellow it's mellow... etc.”

If you have concerns about your group's water needs (ie. for a very large group or a longer stay), we can schedule a delivery of extra water. Let me know if you'd like to discuss!

(Summertime)
Fire Safety: As you know, California is experiencing a severe drought, which creates very dangerous fire conditions. We have done a lot of very careful fire mitigation on the property, and the neighborhood has been certified a Fire Wise Community. That said, one careless spark could create a devastating wildfire.
While you are on the Farm:
* NO SMOKING of any kind is allowed anywhere on the property.
* NO FIRES or flames of any kind are allowed anywhere on the property. The only exceptions are the stove and the grill on the deck.
* Be aware of any situation, activity, or machine that could produce a spark, and discontinue immediately.
* Remember, fires grow out of control and move extremely quickly and can destroy huge areas before they’re brought under control. Please do what you can to help us care for the Farm and beyond.

Pool: The pool is a great way to cool off when it’s hot! Children MUST be supervised at all times for their safety, as well as to ensure that the pool itself is not damaged. Above-ground pools use a thick vinyl liner that can be punctured or torn easily by sharp items or rough play, both of which are strictly forbidden in or around the pool. Before entering the pool, use the pitcher to give yourself a quick shower and scrub to remove as much lotion, sunscreen, etc. This will help the water remain clear and inviting through your stay. Likewise, step into the grey tub to rinse the sand off of your feet before stepping onto the ladder and entering the pool.
