Our place is a cross-over of farm, family residence, creative atelier and guesthouse. Available for guests are:

The advertised lodging price is per room per night, for max. 2 persons in each room. Children up to 12 years old can sleep in bed with their parents, if you wish.
All rooms are around 14 sqm big, with double bed (195 x 140 cm), writing desk, chair, reading light and storage cabinet. There is no toilet/bath within your room, but you can use the large common bathroom, the extra CR (toilet), the kitchen, the laundry area, the table tennis table and other facilities - share your life with our family and have fun!

From meal to meal, you can tell us if you want to sign up - well ahead of cooking. We are not an à la carte restaurant: you can enjoy your meals together with our family, or sit separately, at the big table behind our kitchen or at the patio, but we don't cook extra sorts of dishes for everyone. If you have special dietary concerns or wishes, please speak with us before you sign up for a meal.
You can also cook for yourself in the common kitchen - again, please coordinate with the cook :-)
We have a toaster, rice cooker, mixer and a fruit juicer, hot & cold drinking water outlets, a fridge and an electric oven, gas burner, pots and pans, sieves, bowls and plates, cutlery, etc.

The "Nipa Hut" is a freestanding building, with its own veranda and entrance over a path on our lot.
Room 4 and Room 5 in the "Student House" also have their own front door (you can lock it). These rooms are directly accessible via the ground floor veranda of the "Student House." You don't have to go through any other rooms or corridors to enter or exit it.

During your stay
We are happy to spend time with our guests, show you to the secret lagoon, make a campfire or barbecue with you, play a card game or watch a video movie together. If you rather spend a quiet time on your own, however, that is also fine with us.
You are welcome to eat together with our family, or separately behind our kitchen, for a small fee per meal; we don't do room service and à la carte cooking, alas.
We are open all year. April, May and June are the dry and hot months, the other months are a bit cooler and have some rain. You can swim and dive at the beaches all year, it never gets colder than ca. 26°C. Water temperatures between 22° and 30° C - Please check the weather report.
We suggest you use sunglasses, hat or cap, light shawl, sun protection lotion when you are in the sun.
Travel via Cebu Mactan International Airport, then take the bus to the ferry in Hagnaya (4 hours bus, 1 hour ferry, cheap travel). Alternaively, fly from Cebu to Bantayan with Air Juan in 30 minutes (single tickets between 3.000 and 5.000 PHP)
From Bantayan Island, you can make chartered boat trips to Virgin Island and Funtastic Island.

Other things to note
LANGUAGES: Everyone in our team speaks English. Hans also speaks Dutch and German fluently, and some French. Additionally, Richie speaks both Bisaya and Tagalog.
INTERNET: For better WiFi signal, we have installed a 60-feet high antenna tower that receives and send Internet signal with around 20 Mbps. You can log in to our WiFi with your smart phone or desktop (Please ask for the password when you are here). As a rule, the signal is available 24/7. There may be short interruptions or slow connection periods, though, depending on the weather.
TARGET GROUP: We especially welcome young people who are are open to learn about foreign cultures. Artists will have enough place for painting and sculpting. Families are also very welcome, as we have a young daughter (born in February 2021) and she is always happy to meet new playmates.
SPECIAL NEEDS, ACCESSABILITY: Alas, our facilities are not adapted for guests who need a wheel chair or have difficulties walking.
BABIES and TODDLERS are welcome, but parents should keep an eye on them at all times. Our lot is huge (8,000 sqm); it is farmland and not padded with pillows. There can be sharp edges, thorns, ants, stones, barbwire fencing, etc.
SUN PROTECTION: The sun can be very hot in Bantayan. Please bring enough airy clothes, shorts, slippers or sandals. Wear a hat or a cap, a light shawl, use enough sun blocker, especially in the first days. If you want to walk through rocky or bushy terrain, we recommend wearing sneakers of closed shoes.

The Philippines belong to the 65 poorest countries in the world. Prices for lodging, food, and transport are much lower than in Europe or the USA. But this also means that technology and cultural habits can be different from what you are used to:
ELECTRICITY is supplied by Banelco, the Bantayan Electricity Collective. Sometimes, there are power outages, lasting from 20 minutes to several hours. We can neither predict nor influence such incidents. Luckily, the situation has greatly improved in 2021☺ As we have our own water tank, we still have a water reserve during power outages.
ANIMALS & FRUITS: There are no known poisonous animals on our lot. Centipedes may leave a painful bite, though, but they are rare on our lot. If you walk through high grass, the ants may find you. Put some cream on their bites, and do not scratch them. We recommend following the paths on the lot, and not go barefoot. Please don't eat berries, fruits and mushrooms you are not familiar with.
FIESTAS: Philippine popular cultures includes fiestas, weddings or birthday parties, with disco or karaoke music. Occasionally, this also happens in our neighborhood. Sometimes, we know about this before, sometimes not. If such an incident disturbs your sleep, we will hand you a cashback discount, in accordance with the severity of the disturbance. We are in constant touch with the Barangay Captain to support considerate behavior within our barangay community.
